Nokia Wahoo, like BB Pearl Flip ?

After the promising leak of the Nokia smartphone roadmap, we have more hot news for you, this time with photos. Codenamed Wahoo, the new Nokia flip phone stands out with its half QWERTY keypad and built-in aGPS. The new Symbian smartphone looks similar to the Black Berry Pearl Flip in terms of design and will be released exclusively for AT&T in US.

The quad-band Nokia Wahoo will support dual-band HSDPA, 2 MP camera with flash, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, 80 MB user memory and microSD card slot. Quite naturally for a flip phone, it will have two displays – an internal 16M QVGA 2.2″ TFT display and an external 256K TFT 1.36″ with a 128×160 resolution.
The Wahoo flip is not among the slimmest flip phones, as its dimensions are 100 x 52 x 17 mm and 115 grams weight. There is no information on the phone pricing or availability.
However judging on the full Nokia smartphone roadmap, that we reported recently, the Nokia Wahoo may just as well be already canceled.
We didn't include canceled phones in the table for conciseness and one of those that were left out is a handset described as "Version of 6650 with half-QWERTY keyboard added". This canceled handset is codenamed as Roxy in the table, so in the end of the day, we don't have a definitive answer to this rumor. But then again - unconfirmed information is what rumors are all about.

SE W705i, fortunately with WiFi, Unfortunately without GPS

Just as expected, today Sony Ericsson announced their new Walkman phone - the Sony Ericsson W705. The high-end slider is the first music-dedicated feature phone by the company to feature Wi-Fi. Unluckily the rumored GPS connectivity seems to have been dropped out but at least the rest of the specs sheet seems pretty decent.

The Sony Ericsson W705 comes with a 2.4" QVGA display capable of showing up to 256K colors. Some of its more important features include a 3.2 MP fixed-focus snapper, FM radio with RDS, quad-band GSM and dual-band (900/2100 MHz) 3G support.

The typical for the Walkman family niceties - Shake control and SensMe are also available in the W705. The phone will come with 120 MB of internal memory that can be expanded through the M2 card slot for storing your favorite tracks. In addition there will be a 4GB memory card included in the retail package to grant generous storage capacity straight out of the box.

Sony Ericsson W705 will hit the shelves in two different flavors - W705 and W705u (exclusive to Orange). It will become available in Luxury Silver and Passionate Red color versions starting from Q1 of 2009.

Sony Ericsson made also another announcement - the wireless 2.1 speaker system MBS-900. It has integrated FM radio receiver and a 3.5mm standard audio jack. The unit has monochrome OLED display and Bluetooth functionality with A2DP support. Packing the impressive power output of 2x10W plus a 20W subwoofer the MBS-900 seems quite up to the task of sound-screening your next picnic.

HTC Touch HD Hits Asia Faster Than America

We have received word on the next wave of countries to get the Windows Mobile uber device - HTC Touch HD. Only a few days after its European premiere HTC brought joyful news to all its fans in Asia by announcing that the HD will be available on the World's most populated continent as soon as the beginning of next month. Unfortunately for our American friends, there is still no word of when will the phone become available there.

The first two countries from the Asian tour of the HTC Touch HD will be Malaysia and Singapore. The prices of the multimedia powerhouse in those countries will be respectively 730 euro (930 US dollars) and 750 euro (950 US dollars). The twenty euro difference can easily be explained by the 8GB microSD card that will be included in the retail package in Singapore.

Equipped with a large 3.8" WVGA screen the HTC Touch HD is surely one of the most interesting devices to hit the market this year. Even though multimedia isn't normally one of Windows Mobile devices' elements the Touch HD has a specs sheet that can put much of the competition to shame. The large display, the 5 MP snapper and the 3.5mm audio jack are just some of the niceties it brings.

The connectivity includes all contemporary means of data transfers - 3G, Wi-Fi and of course the microSD card slot. There is also a built-in GPS to make the specs sheet on the HD almost as complete as it can be.

Nokia N96 Starts Shipping in US

The US version of the Nokia N96 is now available through various unsubzidized channels in the United States, including the Nokia Flagship stores in New York and Chicago. You can get yourself one even online by visiting Nokia USA website or other independent e-tailers.

The US version of the Nokia N96 has support for the American 3G bands (850 and 1900 MHz) and will retail for around 900 US dollars and, cough, an arm and a leg, cough!

Ridiculously overpriced, the latest and greatest of Nokia N-series smartphones can be yours for a nice pile of cash. Nevertheless, we are sure that the dull all-black oh-so-N81 design will make it worth it. If it doesn't you can at least rest easier when you know you have got yourself last year's technology in this year's makeup at the price of almost two equally capable smartphones.

E63, the plastic series of E71

It seems it's high time that Nokia drops the curtain on the Nokia E63. The smartphone leaks for a second time now this time featured on a live video bringing in a short demo of the handset. At this point there are no surprises and all the expected specifications that we already told you about are confirmed.

The Nokia E63 runs on the Symbian v9.2 OS with S60 v3.1 UI. It also has a full QWERTY keyboard and a landscape QVGA screen. Basically the E63 will be a lower-spec'd, plastic-cased and more affordable version of the marvelous business tool that the E71 is.

Some of the other features of the device are Wi-Fi, 2.5mm AV jack, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and 2 MP camera. In order to reduce the price the metal construction of the E71 is replaced by plastic.

We are yet to see the official announcement of the E63 but it will hardly bring too many surprises too. However we are quite eager to know if the price tag is low enough to make it worth it. Meanwhile here is the video in question for you to enjoy.

LG KS 500, New From LG

The latest LG KS500 is one of those handsets that won't get your attention on first look but it packs quite a punch under its unassuming looks. The nifty slider boasts a 3 megapixel camera, a QVGA display, a GPS receiver with Yahoo! Go maps application and quite possibly an affordable price tag.

Contrary to many of the online rumors, which spawned when the device was first leaked through the US FCC website, it's now finally clear that LG KS500 is not a smartphone.

The LG KS500 is a tri-band GSM phone which offers dual-band UMTS/HSDPA support. Measuring 102.8 x 49.2 x 14.9 mm doesn't really make it the most compact chap on the block, but still it's nothing too big.

The KS500 has a 262K color display of QVGA resolution, a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera (sad, we know), 100MB of built-in memory and a microSD card with support for an addition 8GB.

Although it doesn't sound ground-breaking by any means, you might be interested to know that the LG KS500 is the first handset by the South Korean company to feature an optical touchpad. It helps navigation through the menus or the web browser.

Unlike similar Samsung solutions, with the KS500 you can opt for turning off the optical trackpad in the menus, but leaving it on for an extra sweet experience in the web browser, which we guess will be the mouse-enabled NetFront 3.4 variety.

And finally, the LG KS500 brings GPS connectivity with A-GPS support. Yahoo! Go maps and location services application is preinstalled on board to make finding your way around that much easier. Of course, you can always add Google Maps for Mobile if you wish.

We don't know much on the projected availability or pricing of the LG KS500, but judging on the Vodafone brand on the official photos, you will be able to find it through Vodafone networks, so a nice, subsidized price seems a fair guess.
